So get this. They have formed 'The Starbucks Salon'. Apparently its some sort of interactive coffeehouse experience that travels around the United States every 10 days. Not only do they sell coffee, here's the good part, it's also a gallery and a performance venue where they showcase work from up-and-cuming artists and musicians, etc. There's even going to be poetry and storytelling.
Above is a picture of the sort of marketing that Starbucks has been throwing up all over New York City. The buzz on the street is that New Yorkers don't think it's a genuine effort and are wondering why all these low-key artists are selling out to the big boys.
I don't think it'll be a success in New York.
Conclusion: A for effort, but I can see right through them. Definitely sneaky marketing!
